Toggle17. Sell Your Artwork On Etsy
Etsy is a popular platform for artists to sell their handmade products. If you have artistic skills and create handmade items like woodworks, embroidered pieces, pots, jewelry, or home goods, Etsy is the perfect place to earn money from your creations. With around 48 million regular customers and billions of dollars in goods sold in 2019, Etsy provides a large customer base for your artistic endeavors.
Setting up a shop on Etsy is moderately easy and can be completed in a few hours. However, preparing your merchandise, taking pictures, writing descriptions, and coming up with a catchy shop name can be time-consuming. Finding customers and making your first sale may take a few weeks, depending on the demand for your products.
When you make a sale on Etsy, the payment is sent to your Etsy account. During the first 90 days, the funds are deposited in your account after seven days. After 90 days, the funds are deposited the next day, providing a medium payment timeline.
To sell on Etsy, you should be at least 13 years old. If you’re under 18, additional policies for minors will apply. It’s important to ensure that you have all the rights to the goods you’re selling on the platform.
18. Put Out Your Photographs In The Market
If you’re an aspiring artist or photographer, you can use websites like Fine Art America to turn your photographs into a source of income. These platforms allow you to showcase and sell your artwork as prints, shirts, phone covers, and more. Other marketplaces for selling your photographs include SmugMug, PhotoShelter, and 500px. While some of these platforms may require a subscription fee, they offer various features like cloud storage and password-protected galleries.
Setting up your profile on PhotoShelter, SmugMug, or Fine Art America is a quick process, especially if you already have a collection of original works. You can create your profile within a few hours and start selling your photographs.
Payment methods and timeframes vary depending on the website you choose. Fine Art America, for example, pays artists after the 30-day return period expires, and payments are made on the 15th of every month. PhotoShelter pays you when your work is sold and sends the payment through your preferred method. SmugMug allows you to request payment the following month if you have a minimum balance of $5.
When using these platforms, it’s important to meet the specific requirements of each site. The most crucial requirement is that you have the rights to the photographs you sell.
